IN.TECH features Article on Career Path to Animation Industry
![]() |
This article inside IN.TECH from The Star about career in the animation industry is very worth to read. This is a must read for the for those who wants to venture into the animation industry seriously. Two persons that has been interviewed are Kyle Balda and Phat Phuong. They were here in Malaysia to give lectures during International 3D Animation Masterclass and Seminar that was organised by The One Academy and MDeC (Multimedia Development Corporation).
Kyle Balda was previously working with Pixar Animation Studios and now is working with Illumination Entertainment, the computer graphics animation division of Universal Pictures, as the lecturer and animator. Meanwhile, Pat Phuong is still working with Pixar Animation Studios as lead technical director and set-dressing lead. Both of their jobs sound cooooooolll.. Both of them have different paths to success in this animation industry. But, I personally think that the journey to animation world by Phuong is much more challenging because he needs to do the career change from architecture to animation. That’s quite a brutal and mind blowing career change since most parents in Asia don’t expect their children to choose animation as their jobs. Maybe because in their eyes, it is not in the same league of professional category jobs. Like Kassim Selamat in “Ibu Mertuaku” movie. At last, with full determination, Phuong success in his journey after sending his demo reel to Pixar. Last but not least, special thanks to Ida Rahayu from MDeC for sharing this very informative and useful article. To read the full article, you can read it here in The Star Online. |
