During my full week holidays, I’ve done a bit of favour for my wife’s Master assignments in a university in Malaysia. She asked me if I can help her to draw something for her assignment which involved a literature book which is ‘The Pearl’ by John Steinbeck. Here are the results of the amateurish artist hehe. Please click on the pictures for bigger views.
| The greedy doctor refused to help the servant. I really love this first pic that I drew. It successfully captured the ’who cares?’ face of the doctor and the worriness face of the servant. |
| The hero of the story, Kino, who is riding the canoe. It is my intention not too alter, modify or wipe put the pencil lines in order to maintain the originality and the authenticity of the masterpiece. Actually, I’m too lazy to do it hihi… |
| Kino dived and spotted an out-of-this world oyster. Only this picture that I followed directly as the illustration in the book. Others are my original pose but using the same face as in the illustration. |
| Kino and his family, consists of her wife, Juana, and their son, Coyotito. I did this drawing in less than 30 minutes and the result turned out like a cartoon scene. Anyway, mission accomplished hehe… |
I got the inspiration of the drawing from the book
Light on Lit Diamond: The Pearl Form 5 which is published by
Pearson-Longman (Pearson Malaysia Sdn. Bhd). Sadly, the name of the artist who draw all the good pictures in the book is not mentioned directly. So, I dunno who should I give credit to. Well, anyway, you are welcomed to give comments, critics and judges ala American Idol style
