Tarakucha (Akmal Aziz Asmawi) & the Creative Business Industry using Digital Arts
![]() |
This time, another one of my Pergh’s friends had also been interviewed by the Berita Harian reporter. His name is Akmal Aziz Asmawi or known as Tarakucha in the comic, multimedia and creative business industry. He came from Taiping and he was born on 16th February 1982. In his early childhood days, he was prohibited from reading comics by his father because his father afraid that the comics will affect his study. But his continuous passion and obsession with comics make him now one of the comic artist in Malaysia and the key person behind some of the illustration, animation and cartoon projects in this country. Some of his works are “Saga” graphic novel, “Kultus Kucing Hitam“, “Taubat Si Tanggang“ and “Boboy & Teddy” in Komikoo comic.
When asked about his preference between the manual technique and the digital arts technique, he prefers the fully digital arts technique. This is because, since his early days in the creative industry, he already started with that digital method. Besides, according to him, digital arts technique can make the colouring job easier, can do correction very easy, save a lot of time and also can minimize the usage of papers. Hmmm..sounds like “SAVE THE TREES” campaign. Well, that’s a very good point you got there, bro.
