Cartoon Characters from Kampung Boy by Lat (Datuk Mohd Nor Khalid) at KLCC
I found this video clip made by one of my artist friends, Alif Firdaus Aziz aka Alifstyle is very, very interesting. It shows the Kampung Boy village setup at KLCC (Kuala Lumpur City Centre) for the Hari Raya Aidilfitri festival this year. There’s a lot of the popular cartoon characters from the Kampung Boy cartoon such as Mamat. For your info, Kampung Boy is a popular cartoon series, books, merchandise & franchise created by Datuk Mohd Nor Khalid or famously known as Lat, the popular local and international cartoonist. The setup is really classically special where it use the black and white concept, similar like in his first Kampung Boy book which was published in 1979. Check it out guys:
Actually, I find the similar approach is used at Mid Valley hypermarket too where they assemble the village mock-up using boards drawn in cartoonish style. But I don’t think it is also produced by Lat. Maybe just a coincidence. Well guys, to know more about Lat, you can read it here in Wikipedia. Also, don’t forget to visit Alifstyle’s blog at http://cartoonrama.blogspot.com/. He got a very unique blog postings on cartoons world. In case you go to KLCC, don’t forget to bring your camera, in case you want to take the photos with the Kampung Boy cartoon characters
