Hi guys, the latest Comic Fiesta 2008 (CF08) event is coming to town. The venue for this time will be at Sunway Pyramid Convention Hall, Malaysia. In case you don’t know, it is a shopping complex in Sunway with giant lion head that looks similar like the Cat’s Lair from Thundercat. One way you can go there is by hopping into Putra-LRT and stop at Kelana Jaya station and then take the Feeder Bus and go there straight away. It is a two day events from 20th Dec 2008 (Saturday) till 21st Dec 2008 (Sunday). Oh my, it is just next week!! It will be open from 11am to 7pm. Oh, another thing to note is, this is not a free entrance and happily go-in, go-out, go-in back event. There is an entrance ticket which is RM15 per day. For me, it’s quite expensive for students, teenagers and even the working adults like me. But since it is held in a glamorous Convention Center in Klang Valley, it might be worth it.

Hmmm..let’s see what’s the exciting stuff and pumping-my-adrenalin attractions for this Comic Fiesta this year:

First, there will be Artist Booths that are so many based from the list. From what I know, Pekomik also will put up their booth there. Hope to meet my friends from Pergh and Pekomik there.

Secondly, there is also the “traditional” Cosplay Competition with Solo and Group category. If I take part in it, for Solo category, I will do the Harvey Dent a.ka. Two-Face from Dark Knight. I bet there might be many Joker wannabe already. For Group, maybe I will suggest Ninja Turtles since most of us already building up our belly hehe

Third, wow!! A Life Drawing Demonstration from The One Academy. Couldn’t miss this!! But, it is only limited to 20 persons, aiyahhh!!

Fourth will be The Art Competition that is based on the Comic Fiesta Mascots who are Coffy and Tea. I’m not quite excited about this since I dunno much about the mascots plus the mascots looks pretty dull and boring. But if the mascots looks like monster, giant or superhero, I might be thrilled to join.

The last one and I think this is the best of all is the Portfolio Pavilion where you can bring your portfolios (drawings, zine, game, toys, doujinshi etc) and get the feedback instantly from the big companies that will be there such as Animasia Studios, Imaginary Friends Studios of Singapore, Foldees, GempakStarz (I love this company), Eden Animation and MDeC (Multimedia Development Corporation). Who knows, maybe they are interested with your portfolios or skills and then offer you a job that you can’t resist

Actually, I’m quite frustrated with the Comic Fiesta Official Website since most of their navigation or links are still in ‘Coming Soon’ mode. Anyway, I really respect and salute this Comic Fiesta team since they managed to get the sponsors from the multinational companies such as HP (Hewlett-Packard), AMD (the Intel rival, of course), PC.com and the famous ANIMAX channel from Astro. Ermm..will Hannah Tan be there too? Hope this event will be more happening and ‘gempaq’ although the world rite now is in the middle of chaos due to Global Economy Crisis.
