Famous Comic Artists, Cartoonists & Celebrities at Anugerah PeKOMIK 2009
Hi guys, below are another set of pictures of some of the popular and famous comic artists and celebrities that I met during Anugerah PeKOMIK or PeKOMIKON 2009 at PWTC.

| Imuda…A well-known comedian and one of popular comic artists in Malaysia. His full name is Abdul Rahim bin Muda and he is very synonym with sitcom ‘Pi Mai Pi Mai Tang Tu’ and ’2 + 1′. His famous films where he is the main actor in it are ‘Mat Gelap’ (first local film that mix cartoon in it ala Roger Rabbit) and ‘Mat Som’ (based on Lat’s graphic novel). |

| Lat…The icon of comic and cartoon industry in Malaysia. His real name is Datuk Mohammad Nor Khalid and he is a famous Malaysian cartoonist that are known at international level. He is very synonym with ‘Kampung Boy’ merchandise and branding. You can read his cartoons everyday in New Straits Times. For your info, Mamat Khalid, one of popular film makers in Malaysia is his younger brothers. |

| Ujang…Another popular local cartoonist. His real name is Ibrahim Anon and also known as ‘Sifu Kartun Malaysia’. His masterpiece in Gila-Gila magazine during his time with Creative Enterprise are ‘Aku Budak Minang’, ‘Jibam’, ‘Aca’ and ‘Atuk’. in 1993, he published the popular ‘Ujang’ magazine under his own company which is Kharisma Publications. The years ahead got rough and tough on him until he make his comeback in 2007. Good luck Sifu… |

Apoh…The strong man that established the Gempak brand of Art Square Creation. Also known as Zuan or John, he is the creator of that yellow Mat Gempak character in that magazine. His new project currently is ‘Elemen‘, a magazine specialized for kids. I dunno what he is talking about, but maybe, “Kami bukan Along. Kami cuma mau tolongg..” Just joking bro  |

| Gayour (green arrow)…This popular comic artist and cartoonist is really synonym with the rock star style image and some said that he looks like Slash the guitarist from Guns and Roses. Before this, he made his name and build his reputation during his time at Gelihati magazine. At Ujang, he is famous with ‘Bersama Selamanya’ comics series which is full of ‘KILL!!! KILL!!! KILL!!! DIE!!! DIE!!! DIE!!!’ dialogues. Now he is the chief cartoonist and editor at g3 magazine produced by Karangkraf. |

| Ainon Muhammad…The iron lady behind the PTS brand. She is the founder of PTS Publications and Distributors Sdn Bhd. Prior to that, she was working with DBP (Dewan Bahasa Pustaka) from 1973 to 1988. She is really, really, really supportive of the local comic and cartoon scene. She shown it by introducing the Komik-M division that specialized in comics and cartoons graphic novels. | Xanseviera…Another modern comic artist and cartoonist icon in Malaysia. Her real name is Haryati Mohd Ehsan. Became double or triple times famous after being one of the finalists in Nescafe Kick Start reality show series. She is one of the popular artists in Gempak magazine and her art works are more towards the manga, anime style and very clean and beautiful. Yup, she is one of the VREMPIRE LAIR’s newsletter subscribers(promooo..promo…hehe ) One of the complaint that I got from her is the news came too late. Sorry sis, part-time-basis lorrrr |

| Jaafar Taib (purple arrow)…One of the otai in local art and cartoon scene in Malaysia. He is the founder of CESB (Creative Enterprise Sdn Bhd) that is very popular with Gila-Gila and Bambino magazine and novel series. His popular cartoons are ‘Jungle Jokes’ and ‘Kalau...’. Besides cartoons, he is also very famous with the damn-beautiful-gorgeous detail drawings of animals especially birds. His special art masterpiece, ‘Birds of Malaysia’, contains 120 species of birds. Not only being an art person, he is also a respected businessman in the publishing industries… Respecttt..Respecttt… |

Zoy (blue arrow)…He is a famous figure in comic scene especially for the newspapers market. I remember reading his work in Berita Harian and Berita Minggu during my school time. Even some will cut his comic from newspaper and paste it inside a scrapbook. Some titles of his works are ‘Seladang Tunggal’, ‘Si Takluk Jagat’ and ‘Durjana Pemetik Bunga’. His comic works are more towards the martial art concept with serious storyline. His also got this serious-looking face too. Together with him are the rising local comic artists. Milx & Adijin…The bald guy (looks like Lex Luthor) is Milx or his real name is Mahathir Buang. The semi-bald guy with spectacles is Adijin or his real name is Aadi Salman. What is the similarities between them? Well, they are both now known as international comic artist!!! Bravo dude…Pheewwwwiiittttt Milx is famous for his work with Steve Niles which is ‘Wake The Dead’ comic series. Adijin’s popular international comic is Tigriss and he also currently draw for Komikoo. If I’m not mistaken, both of them previously came from Urban Comics and from there they build their name. Way to go guys  |

| Syem…He is one unique cartoonist in Malaysia. He can draw and at the same time perform the sound of many famous cartoon characters such as Donald Duck (nearly perfect), Mickey Mouse, Bugs Bunny, Sylvester, Goofy etc. He is also one of the contestants in Raja Lawak Musim ke-3. Dude, you are awesome!! |
