This weekend starting from 6th to 8th February 2009, an event called ‘Robofair 2009′ with tagline ‘A Robotix Exhibition’ will be held at Cineleisure Damansara, Mutiara Damansara which is near the Bandar Utama. From my understanding, the objective of this event is to bring forward the complex and technologically advanced ideas with focus on the science of robotics in a fun, exciting and friendly way and can be appreciated by all kind of people. The organiser for this event is Imagika Sdn Bhd and also Kaki Robot Club Malaysia. I think this guys mission is to shape our mind and culture to be more like Japanese that is crazy about robotic stuffs (remember Asimo from Honda?).

There will be a showcase on award winning robots and also the attempts to be inside The Malaysia Book of Records which is ‘The Biggest Assembly of RoboPets’ or ‘Malaysia’s Largest Robo Toys Assembly’. You also can take part in the attempt by buying the Robopets to join the crowd from Kaki Robot Club. One unit is only RM50 (hey, this is a damn-cute-intelligent robot, dude).

If you are daring enough, you can try to enter the Robodance Competition. You can form a group of 5 to 6 people with unique robotics dynamics or you also can perform as solo. ‘Ada Berani Ka?’. One of the exciting activities is the launching of Aziz M. Osman‘s new robotic film titled ‘CE1‘. Robofair 2009 will be the place where the teaser trailer of ‘CE1′ will be shown for the first time to public. The movie will combines the  reality with CGI and it will looks some sort like the Hollywood ‘Transformers‘ in Malaysian way. CE1 also is the name of the robot in that film and it has a potential to be Malaysia’s first robot icon. Maybe this will be similar as Astro Boy in Japan. By the way, the titled CE1 looks quite a bit like CJ7 from Stephen Chow. Hopefully the storyline will not be the same.

Frankly speaking, I must go to this event since it sounds really cool and different from others. I wish the glamorous Terminator model will also be there too
