Mad Max 4 Movie, A 3D Stereoscopic Anime Feature. No Mel Gibson.

For the Mad Max fan, I’ve just read the news from MTV Movie Blogs where the latest Mad Max franchise which is Mad Max 4 will be a 3D anime feature type of movie. It is the latest idea that popped up in the mind of George Miller, the writer/director of the previous three films, ‘Mad Max’ (1979), ‘Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior’ (1981) and ‘Mad Max 3: Beyond Thunderdome (1985). And this time, Mel Gibson will not be anywhere near this project, including its action-adventure videogame which Miller is working on it with Corey Barlog, the designer of ‘God of War II’. So, don’t expect any husky voice from Mel. From what Miller said, the new Mad Max 4 will be an R-rated stereoscopic anime film with the Japanese anime style is adapted to suit the Western audiences. Hmm..sounds like hybrid anime. He compared it with the success of Kurosawa’s AKIRA in United States. Well, quite a thing to be concern since Miller is the one who is behind “Happy Feet“, the 3D computer-animated penguin dancing and singing story. Hopefully, the new Mad Max will not be that cute and still maintains the macho and brutal character
For your info, Mad Max is a low-budget Australian movie. Yup, not a Hollywood movie. This post-apocalyptic action thriller film is made in 1979 and directed by George Miller and written by Miller & Byron Kennedy. At this time, Mel Gibson is a little known, non-famous actor. It has been said that this film is the one who opening up the global market to Australian films. Some of the interesting facts that I like about this Mad Max film:
1) It is the first Australian film to be shot with a widescreen anamorphic lens. (I dun have any idea what it is
)
2) Prior to directing movie, George Miller is a medical doctor in Australia and working in a hospital emergency room. Things change after he met with Byron Kennedy, the amateur film maker in 1971.
3) Since it is a low budget film, only Mel Gibson was wearing the jackets and pants made from real leather. Other’s are using the vinyl outfits.
4) Also, the same police cars were repeatedly repainted to create an illusion that more cars were used and most of the time they were driven while the paint is still wet. What da fact!!!
5) For 20 years, this movie held a record inside Guinness Book of Records as the highest profit-to-cost ratio of a motion picture. Imagine with cost of only AUD 300,000, it managed to earn $100 million worldwide!! Only in 2000, ‘The Blair Witch Project’ broke the record.
6) Mel Gibson, an unknown entity, went to the audition in poor shape as last night he had gotten into a drunken fight with three men a party. So, during the audition he had a swollen nose, broken jawline and many bruises. Suprisingly, the casting agent liked the look
Well, you can read more about it in Wikipedia. How do you guys think about an anime Mad Max?
