I have just watched Alifstyle’s short movie titled ‘Hantu Silap Mata’ (The Magic Ghost in English) in YouTube. For your info, Alifstyle is his pseudonym and his real name is Alif Firdaus Azis. I first knew him from Pergh forum and knew him a bit more further during Laman Seni where we sell our self-published zines at Balai Seni Lukis Negara. From what I know, this is the first venture for him into the movie scene. Prior to this, he is already known for publishing comics, story books and graphic novels with PTS Publications. His famous graphic novel with PTS is ‘Orang Kuat’.

His short film has been shown last Saturday, 1st November 2008 at Rumah Pena during Maskara Shorties, an event where amateur film makers can showcase their products to the real audience. Hmmm..that’s a very good platform for the beginners like me. I suddenly feel like I wanna join it too next year. Below are some of the scene from “Hantu Silap Mata“. Well, I couldn’t comment so much on his first attempt at filming but from what I can see, he got a lot of potential that can be polished and shined. Some scenes might be draggy, but some part are funny and looks good (especially the Heroes flying scene). Here is his picture (arrow on the head) with the Maskara Shorties participants. Right beside him is Saiful Nang, also my friend who is a famous and professional photographer from Candid Syndrome. I’ve known this guy since we are in Multimedia University. Third guy on Alifstyle left side, who is wearing a songkok, is also a famous guy in Malaysia film industry. He is Mamat Khalid who is popular with his film titled ‘Rock‘, ‘Man Laksa’ and ‘Zombi Kampung Pisang’. Ohh..this time, he is not my friend. I know him, but he don’t know me

I believe that Alifstyle can go further in the art and media industry and will soon be a somebody in the future. Why? Because this guy got a pure passion in it and has already shown his utmost commitment to it by joining and actively participate in some of the events related to the industry.
