New ‘Conan’ Movie Directed by Brett Ratner
I have just read from ComingSoon.net that there is high possibility that the new ‘Conan‘ Movie will be directed by Brett Ratner. As most of us already now, Brett Ratner is famous for directing the whole Rush Hour movies franchise and also the final (perhaps not the last) X-Men movie which is ‘X-Men: The Last Stand’. Currently, Brett Ratner is already in the final negotiation to direct the film and the target for the release is in early 2010. The film will be co-produced by Nu Image/Millennium and Lionsgate Films.

The plot based on what Avi Lerner from Milennium Films said, “The story opens on the battlefield where Conan is born and tells the origin story that sets the stage for what will be the first of multiple films,“. Okay, frankly speaking, I couldn’t understand so much what the storyline is based on the little-bitty clue given by him. For your info, the poster above is a teaser poster and not the final version one. The new version one will follow more like the original concept by Robert E. Howard, the creator of Conan The Barbarian (or Conan the Cimmerian) in 1932. Perhaps, it will be more like the painting below from Mark Schultz rather than the Arnold Schwarzenegger’s body builder look.

I hope Brett Ratner will not destroy the Conan franchise and image like what he has done to few superstar characters of X-Men in ‘X-Men: The Last Stand’. Well, who do you think will play Conan for this new movie? Any suggestion?
P/S: Hopefully, nobody will confuse this Conan with the Detective Conan from Japan
